Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Screen Shots, Video and
Interview |
IGN has posted 15 New
screen shots, a new
video and they
interviewed Ed Boon.
::From the IGN interview::
IGN: What do you mean by "Armageddon?" Is this really the
final battle between good and evil? Does this mean this is
the last Mortal Kombat as we know it? Will you explain?
Ed: Armageddon does imply "The End" in a few ways. It is the
end of MK on this generation of consoles. It also is the
final battle between all the good and evil characters in the
MK universe. We really want to close this chapter of Mortal
Kombat.

Mortal Kombat: Debate-ality and GameDaily Previews MK:A |
Bryan Dawson from
GameDaily.com wrote an interesting feature about Mortal
Kombat. This feature cover the history if Mortal Kombat and
it talks about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
::From the GameDaily Feature::
However, MK Armageddon actually has some positives to it.
First off, Ed Boon and his crew have added aerial combat to
the title. This should allow it to play much more like
Mortal Kombat 3 and less like the last two craptastic titles
in the series. Unfortunately, since the base gameplay engine
is still based on Deadly Alliance, even adding aerial combat
isn't enough to make this one appeal to the real fighting
game fans. Casual players are taking over the industry and
Midway is catering to them with its bread and butter
franchise. The only other positive about MKA is that this
will be the last game in the series to use the horrible
Deadly Alliance fighting engine. Come 2007 or 2008… or
whenever Midway releases its first next generation fighting
game, we'll finally have a brand new MK to play that doesn't
use an old fighting engine.

Gamedaily.com.
GameDaily has also posted a 3 page preview of Mortal Kombat:
Armageddon.
::From the GameDaily Preview::
The Mortal Kombat series is returning for the seventh
installment, and although it's limited to current generation
consoles (PlayStation 2 and Xbox), it's looking to be huge.
The last few Mortal Kombat games have appealed to the
casuals through blood and gore, and now those casuals will
get to create their own fatalities and combatants.
Interested? I thought you would be, but that's not all
Midway has stuffed into Mortal Kombat Armageddon. This one
is looking huge folks, just keep on reading for the full
rundown of what to expect.

ShackNews Previews Mortal Kombat: Armageddon |
David Craddock of
Shacknews.com got the chance to site down and have a
chat with Ed Boon about Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. They talk
about the name begin misleading. Also the Bosses, Shao Kahn,
Goro, and Kintaro will be on the same playing field as the
other characters. Their is a lot of new info in this
preview.
::From the ShackNews.com Preview::
First and foremost, fans can rest assured, as the tag-line
of the next MK is a bit misleading. Boon explains:
"Armageddon WILL be the last MK game that will be made ...
for this generation [Xbox 1, PS2] of consoles." The focus of
the game will be the culmination of most, if not all,
existing storylines, something that Mortal Kombat has always
focused on, where many fighting games do not. Not only will
Armageddon be the last fighter on this generation of
hardware, but it will also be the last MK game that
incorporates the fighting engine that has been in use since
Deadly Alliance. What do future platforms hold in store for
the series? Time will tell; Ed Boon, unfortunately, will
not!
Choose Your Destiny
As noted, Mortal Kombat has always featured rather thought
out storylines for its cast of characters. Because MK:A will
focus on wrapping up these storylines—in short, seeing who
should stick around for the next wave of MK games, and who
should be given the ax—you can expect to see a few
characters you haven't seen in a while. And by a few, I mean
ALL of them. Characters like Stryker, Sheeva, Sektor,
Motaro, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn that haven't been seen
since the days of MK3 or MK: Gold will return, as will all
others. Mortal Kombat 1 through Deception is represented
here, and there will be a few new faces as well. This,
combined with a feature that I will reveal shortly, will
make for a 60+ cast of characters. Boon says it best: "No
more 'what if' scenarios. Players will be able to create any
super-match ups they can think of."
